Our Vision, Christian Ethos and Values
Our vision for all in our school is to Aspire, Discover and Flourish so that each person fulfils their potential.
At Crowton Christ Church C.E. Primary School, we inspire and empower all members of our school community, providing the knowledge to enable everyone to thrive and flourish in an environment where passions, talents and interests are discovered. Our school is nestled in the Cheshire countryside, founded upon the principles of the Church of England, to serve the community, with Christian values at the heart of all we do.
Guided by our Christian Values, we are all determined to serve and lead the diverse world we live in treating everyone with compassion, dignity and respect. With hope and aspiration, we will encourage all to grow and believe that…
“…with God, all things are possible.” Matthew 19:26
Recognising its historic foundation, our school will preserve and develop its religious character in accordance with the principles of the Church of England and in partnership with the Church at both a parish and diocesan level. At Crowton, everyone is valued, respected as an individual and encouraged to achieve their full potential. Our school comes under the Chester Diocese Board of Education. With their support, we seek to ensure that all children achieve the best of which they are capable in a caring atmosphere that recognises the special gifts of each individual.
Aspire
We strive for excellence in all that we do. We encourage every member of our school community to dream big and set ambitious goals. By fostering a culture of aspiration, we empower our school community to believe in their potential and pursue their goals with unwavering determination.
What does this mean to us at Crowton?
Inspired by biblical teachings and the exemplary life of Jesus Christ, we encourage our children to aspire not only towards personal success but to embrace a life of service and contribution to the wider community. We remain steadfast in our commitment to nurturing aspirational individuals who embody the values of faith, hope and love, thereby enriching their lives and those around them.
Discover
We believe in creating an environment where children discover their passions, talents and interests, nurturing a love for learning that extends beyond the classroom. We recognise that education is a journey of endless possibilities and we encourage pupils to embrace curiosity through our curriculum offer.
What does this mean to us at Crowton?
At Crowton, the word "discover" resonates with a sense of curiosity and adventure not only academically but also spiritually and personally. We create an environment that encourages every child to be an active participant in their education. We teach them that learning is not always straightforward; at times, it’s about stumbling upon new ideas or perspectives that challenge our previous notions.
Flourish
The notion of flourishing is central to our curriculum offer at Crowton. It encapsulates not only the academic and personal growth we envisage for our children but also the spiritual development fostered within our school community. It speaks to the holistic development of each child, ensuring that they thrive in various aspects of their lives - academically, socially, emotionally and spiritually. We strive to pave the way for our pupils to not only achieve their academic aspirations but also to lead fulfilling lives enriched with purpose and joy.
What does this mean to us at Crowton?
Through his teachings and actions, He demonstrated how to live a fulfilling life that impacts the world positively. To flourish means so much more than simply excelling academically; it’s about nurturing a generation of well-rounded individuals who are prepared to navigate the complexities of life with grace and purpose by grounding our curriculum in biblical principles and the example set forth by Jesus.
Believing Christ to be in all of us, we strive to nurture talents, widen horizons, develop skills and create and celebrate aspirations for life as local, national and global citizens.
Our aims are directed towards preparing each child for life beyond Crowton. To accomplish this we:
Offer an education based upon Christian aims and values.
Develop a supportive school and classroom climate and ethos which build a sense of connectedness, focus and purpose, the acceptance of emotion and vulnerability, warm relationships and the celebration of difference.
Provide a curriculum that is; relevant to each child’s experience, balanced across a range of experiences that make an equal contribution to the child’s development and broad in the range of opportunities and experiences which it provides.
Ensure equal opportunities for every child to realise their maximum potential, spiritually, emotionally, physically, socially, creatively and academically.
Develop high self-expectations and a delight in achieving, encouraging the acquisition of self-responsibility, confidence and independence in learning within a secure, happy working environment.
Promote respect for the abilities, skills, feelings and needs of others; help children to respect how people are different and celebrate diversity.
Prepare each child for the opportunities and responsibilities of adult life, enabling them to make a positive contribution to society.
At Crowton Christ Church C.E. Primary School we offer a distinctly Christian education in an inclusive environment where we encourage all children and young people to learn, enquire and grow. The distinctive nature of our approach to education is embedded in everything that we do.
Our Christian values are explicitly taught in collective worship and referred to throughout the school day. Children and staff of all faiths and none are welcome at our school and our aim is to promote understanding and tolerance between those of different faith traditions.
We are a family that works to ensure everyone thrives, with the love of learning and Jesus’ teachings at the heart of all we do. From a curriculum that encourages pupils to ask questions and find answers, to a community that strives to make the world a better place; together we show each other how to love God, love ourselves and love each other.
We focus on six values each academic year (one each half term) and cover all of our Christian values over a two-year cycle. Each value becomes the focus of our collective worship and a thread which permeates through all areas of our school life. We discuss links with the church calendar and link in songs and prayers with the theme.
