Rowan (KS2)
“…with God, all things are possible.” Matthew 19:26
Monday 6th January 2025 - Spring 1
We have an exciting and busy half term planned. Rowan class will be swimming on Thursday afternoons until Easter, Year 3 and 4 are off on a 2-night residential at the end of January and we have an exciting Art workshop planned. In English, we are looking at a beautiful book called 'Our Tower', a modern-day fable that shows children of a city tower block travelling to a strange, magical world inside a tree. Using this text, we will work towards writing our own adventure journal. In History we are beginning our focus on Crime and Punishment, we will look at how Crimes have changed throughout history and also the way in which people of the past faced punishments for those crimes. In Art lessons this half term, we will be responding to the traditional designs of kente cloth from West Africa. Creating a range of surfaces, combining colour, texture and pattern.
Monday 4th November 2024 - Autumn 2
Welcome back to Autumn 2! This half term we are continuing our journey through the Ancient Greeks in History and our text in English focuses on Greek Myths where we are introduced to the famous adventures of Odysseus.
In Science, Year 3/4 look to develop their understanding of materials further through their unit on States of Matter and Year 5/6 begin to consolidate their knowledge on Animals including Humans with a focus on the Circulatory system.
We are looking forward to Christmas and have started rehearsals for our Christmas production with many of our Key Stage 2 pupils volunteering for solos in the musical numbers.
